How to Prevent Hair Thinning

Sometimes we try every available remedy yet, hair hopelessly continues to fall making us crazy day by day. Hair fall is a condition that can result due to various reasons like poor appetite, improper sleep, lack of hygiene, hormonal imbalances, excessive use of hair styling products and application of heat and the list goes on.

Let us now look at some fixes that will not only reduce hair fall but also boost the overall health of your tresses.

  1. Loosen the tension : Constantly pulling on your hair and creating tension on your strands – by putting it into tight ponytails, excessively blow-drying it straight with a brush, or wearing extensions without giving you a hair break every few months can permanently damage your hair follicles and actually cause hair loss or traction alopecia (as it's medically termed). Women with thinning hair should choose looser styles rather than tight updos all the time and to opt for a brushless blow-dry first before styling, both of which give hair a break from styling practices that can thin strands out even more.
  2. Seek professional treatment: If you keep losing more than 100 strands per day (disabling the anagen – telogen ratio), you should seek hair thinning medical treatments. Sometimes, hair fall and thinning is a consequence of medical conditions like thyroid problems, dramatic weight loss or gain, and anemia. Even when you bleed heavy in menstrual cycles, it can contribute to brittle, fragile hair from losing too much iron. Any kind of hormonal balance dictates how your body is working in general. With age the body keep changing constantly, so you want to be in tune to what's happening. A medical professional will analyze your diet, examine hormonal levels, discuss matters that cause you stress and recommend food products and supplements that will cut down the number of strands that fall off your head.
  3. Eat a healthy and nutritious diet: Whatever you eat and how often greatly affects the health and quality of your hair. Human body needs constant fuel in the form of essential fatty acids, lean protein, B-vitamins, and minerals such as zinc, iron and selenium to grow healthy hair. But do not expect immediate results to show the moment you start to load up on nutrients for important healthy hair. The results could take longer to show. Be persistent with healthy eating. Hair is built from the inside out so a healthy body is important for healthy hair – but it will take time if you have not been getting enough of those nutrients for a while.
  4. Avoid too much of chemical products: If your hair has suddenly started to behave abnormal, the answer lies in the products you use. Whenever you buy a new shampoo or a conditioner or any styling product, check the label of ingredients on the back side! The logic is simple. If you see too much chemical-ish names eg sulfates, silicone, paraben, the chances are that the product is not really safe. Also, choose products that mention natural ingredients like Aloe vera, Amla (Emblica officinalis), lavender or any other herb. The more natural … the better.
  5. Know your family history : Heredity also plays a role in hair loss. You could be sentenced to thinning hair just based on genetics alone. A good way to find out whether or not you might see signs of thinning is by studying your family tree from both the maternal and paternal side. If you discover a pattern of hair loss or baldness , see a trichologist (an expert who specializes in hair and scalp health) about what you can do to prevent the symptoms with supplements, diet changes, or laser therapy treatment that could help rev hair growth .

2. Trauma And Stress

3. Poor Diet And Nutrition

Relevance of Hairline Placement in Hair Transplants

Introduction

Planning the hairline is one of the most important aspects of design. Proper hairline placement requires artistry, imagination, and experience. Many factors must be considered; These include an age of the patient, the amount of future hair loss, the color of hair, the pattern of remaining hair, desires of the patient, postoperative hairstyles, and the number of anticipated reductions.

Overview

Conservative, high hairlines are preferred by nearly all experienced surgeons for the following reasons:

1. The slightly unnatural graft edge is easier to conceal with any remaining hair if the hairline is placed well back on the forehead.

2. A high hairline can always be brought forward later, but it is difficult to change a hairline that is too low.

3. The grafted hair is usually angled anteriorly so that a full-haired appearance can be created without an actual low hairline.

4. The third dimension created at the hairline when the hair grows creates the illusion that the hairline is lower than it was a simple flat line.

Straight lines should be avoided. A slightly curving hairline, beginning anterior- medially and sweeping posterolaterally to the existing hairline. Most surgeons tend to create the same hairline, varying it only to fit the existing pattern. Design and placement of hairlines became almost a signature for the surgeon and his patients.

Angling and Direction of Grafts

The proper angle and direction of hair growth are almost as important as graft placement. The surgeon should consider at what angle and direction he wants the hair to grow so that it will provide the most appropriate density and coverage. The angle and direction must be coordinated with the anticipated hairstyle and should be transported through the entire design. Changes in the angle and direction from one area to another should be gradual and flowing. Generally, the anterior and radial direction of the vellus hair is correct, but sometimes increasing the angle or slightly changing the direction is advisable, particularly at the hairline and at the calyx.

Location of Grafts and Probable Hairstyle

The best quality grafts should always be placed where they will afford the most coverage. This is particularly important in marginal candidates or in patients with limited amounts of donor hair. Consideration of the future hairstyle is particularly important in this aspect of the procedure. Grafts should be concentrated and even crowded into the front hairline particularly on the side where the hair is parted. Parts through the grafted hair usually appear unnatural and so should be avoided. Care must be taken to place the grafts so all the hair will comb in the same direction. Occidentally, however, this rule can be broken. In individuals in whom the existing hair is low on the sides of the head, and reductions for one reason or another have not been performed, parting through grafted hair can be done. This should definitely not be the routine, but with carefully selected patients the appearance is satisfactory.

The policy of concentrating the grafts on the sides of the part should be followed even on the vertex and crown. After the crown and vertex have been reduced, there is always a scar, and with central reductions, the hair may tend to radiate away from the scar. The grafts should be placed adjacent to and down the center of the scar with the hair angled and directed so that it will provide the most coverage and conform most naturally with the proposed direction of hairstyling.

It is not possible to produce a completely natural grafted hairline, although in some cases the appearance may be excellent. The patient must be warned of any anticipated problem and the grafts placed in such a way that the future hair growth may be combed forward and across to conceal the grafted hairline.

This rule can be broken with salt and pepper gray hair and occasionally with blonds. These hairlines often look so naturally they can be fully exposed.

In some patients, because of the pattern and size of the alopecia, the only available hairstyle will be straight back even after reductions have been performed. In these patients, grafts should be screened extremely carefully before concluding, as the final density will not be great. A few well placed, natural natural-appearing grafts providing even sparse hair go a long way towards enhancing the appearance. On the other hand, poor or improperly placed grafts can have just the opposite effect.

What Are The Main Reasons For Slow Hair Growth?

It often happens that a woman has a strong desire to quickly grow their hair. Since not many like the hair extensions, there is only one option left – growing your own natural hair. In this case, growth is a complex process that requires primarily great patience, consistency and efforts to keep going. Neverheless, it is possible to grow long hair at home.

Most people agree that long hair is attractive, however, to grow a long hair can be very slow because this speed at which your hair growth is purely individual and is inherited in the human body body genetically. You may know people who say their hair grows super fast, while others complain about the growth process since they need to put efforts into making it. The hair growth of one or one and a half centimeter per month is considered as a norm. The excellent result is when this parameter is equal to two or two and a half centimeter. There are quite effective ways for rapid hair growth outside of beauty and hairdressing salons. But first you need to understand what affects this process.

The following internal and external factors affect the hair growth process:

Nutrition . The growth initiating nutrients that are found in the food, such as vegetables, quail and chicken eggs, fruits, nuts, greens, fish, and vegetable oil, have a beneficial effect on hair growth. Note, your body must contain the optimum level of water for it to remain hydrated and healthy.

Psychological condition. Stress and depression slow hair growth. Therefore, you need a good sleep, at least 30-minute workout and rest as much as possible.

Health . The condition of internal organs is directly related to the rate of hair growth reported to as pituitary gland, thyroid and adrenal glands. Neverheless, hair reacts quickly to the altered level of hormones in the female body. Often, a woman loses her hair during pregnancy or lactation which is a natural procedure for a pregnant or breastfeeding mom. Hair begin to grow even slower with the onset of menopause, and for this reason, it is hard for an elderly person to grow their hair out.

Mineral and vitamin complexes and cosmetics . In pharmacies and stores that specialize in similar products, they are sold in a wide range. In addition to the fact that such complexes accelerate hair growth, they also improve the overall condition of the nails.

Daily combing . The procedure is simple, but necessary. The comb removes fading hair, thereby speeding the growth of new hair, but keep in mind, combining should be neat and gradual. It is recommended to start combing from the ends, gradually rising to the roots.

Fashion changes every year, but long and well-kept locks are always popular. Not all women can achieve voluminous and long hair.

4 MAIN REASONS WHY YOUR HAIR STOPS GROWING

First , it is the influence of hormonal rearrangements. The optimal amount of estrogen (female hormone) adds silky hair, giving them a healthy appearance. If the hormone is little, it causes the hair to stay dry and lifeless.

Secondly , hair grows slowly because of the bad habits (smoking and alcohol). It is better to get rid of them once and for all.

Third , people (including industry professionals) say that washing your hair frequently is not a good thing, but they forget to consider the fact that when then pores on the scalp get clogged, then it does more harm to your natural hair. The hair bulb begins to suffer from the lack of oxygen which results in the poor hair growth. The hair recommended to be washed when you see the roots getting dirty. Meanwhile, the wave of any kind, hair dryer, tweezers, frequent coloring and ironing provokes a slowdown of hair growth.

Fourth , some hair problems slow down the average pace of its growth and cause hair loss. In this case, you should always consult a hair specialist.

As you noticed, the internal condition of the human body plays a great role in the development of strong and healthy hair. However, not everyone has a strong individual organism. We specified a number of factors that we can implement in our daily life not only to maintain the strong body but also to boost the hair growth. Please remember, a good sleep and healthy nutrition are always the key factors to strong body and, as a result, healthy hair.

Go From Bald To Bold With Just One Surgery

What is it?

A Hair Transplant is a process in which the doctors surgically move the hair follicle from the donor site to the receptor site of your body. The hair follicle is basically a mammalian skin organ which produces hair. It is mainly used in curing male pattern baldness. It can be used to restore any type of hair, whether it may be eyebrows, eyelashes or anything. It can even be used to fill in scars from accidents or previous surgeries etc.

How is it done?

Like any other surgery, this is split into three important steps:

1. Pre Operative assessment

The surgeon or hair doctor will do a detailed analysis of the skin scalp and will decide the donor site and other important aspects and will plan the surgery accordingly. Pre operative folliscopy is also done to determine the density of the original hair. This analysis is used to later compare the transplanted hair with the original ones and proper assessment of the newly grafted hair.

2. Harvesting Methods

The hair harvesting is the trickiest part of the surgery. The hair follicles need to be carefully extracted as the hair grows at an angle from the skin. And they need to be removed at the corresponding angle.

There exist two major types of grafting

i) Strip Excision harvesting

It is the most widely used technique. In this technique a part of the scalp is removed along with the hair follicles. These skin tissues are then gently and carefully separated from the follicle. This follicle is then inserted in the receiver site. It generally leaves a linear scar in the area from which the hair follicle is extracted.

ii) Follicular unit extraction (FUE)

In this technique the surgeon removes only the particle using very fine techniques with high precision. It is more time consuming than the strip surgery method due to the high level of accuracy involved. It has several advantages over Strip surgery like

  • It does not require large area of tissues to be removed from the skin, which leaves a linear scar.
  • It does not leave virtual visible scars as individual follicles are removed.
  • It gives more natural results.
  • But it comes with some major cons too like
  • Increased time for surgery
  • High prices for the procedure

3. Post Operative process

– Use of semi permeable dressing to cover the grafted area which allows seepage of blood and tissue fluid. This needs to be changed daily at least.

– Shampooing also needs to be done as prescribed by the doctor to prevent formation of scabs. These scabs increase the risk of losing the hair follicles.

Thinning of hair due to “shock loss”, that is, the loss of almost all the transplanted hair due to their relocation is the common side effect of a Hair transplant surgery.

There are several important advantages and disadvantages associated with the transplant for example:

– The process does not use any sort of chemicals which may potentially damage your hair

– No hassle or special treatment is required to maintain the transplanted hair.

– It might be an all good process, but the recovery time is in months.

– If hair loss is genetic then the person may still lose his / her hair after the transplant.

However, it helps the person in developing self confidence and the transplanted hair does not require any different maintenance.

Think Thin! Tips On Managing Thin Hair and How Keranique Can Help

Having a thin head of hair is an uphill battle. Sure, our thick-haired sisters have their own unique struggles, but woe does befall gals who barely have two hairs to rub together. Limited are the cuts and styles we are able to pull off with our fine, thin strands. But, there is hope. Many have come before us and managed those wispy locks, and we will also prevail! Check out these essential tips on steering those skimpy strands in the right direction.

1.The Right Way to Clean, Condition, and Treat

Some are born with thin hair, and some experience thinning hair after pregnancies, menopause, or just over time as they are growing older. No matter which of these categories you may fall under, the same rules apply. How you're cleaning, conditioning, and the other products you're using on your hair can make or break it. Many products with good intentions (moisturizing, for example) actually threaten to weigh hair down, so making it appear more lifeless than ever. An effective thickening and volumizing system will be one that cleanses without build-up, conditions without weighing down, and that stimulates new hair growth, initiating real change in the hair, not just the appearance of it.

Keranique for women offers a unique three-part system that is clinically proven to foster the regrowth of hair, starting with a vigorously formulated shampoo that removes buildup and promotes microcirculation in the scalp. Keranique's Conditioner is concocted purposefully to not add weight to the hair, yet still provide it volume and body. There's only one product on the market for women that is clinically proven and approved to regrow hair in women, and it is the Keranique's Hair Regrowth Treatment. This long-term treatment involves the hair follicle itself, reactivating those that have fallen sleep, awakening your hair to new life!

2. Follow These Safe Styling Habits

Once you have your hair follicles directed toward new growth, make sure you are not working against progress when styling. Make sure to use a wide-toothed comb while hair is still wet to gently comb through for minimal hair loss. Do not overdo it with styling products. A simple volumizing mousse or texturizing spray will do. Too much product will start the messy build-up cycle. Do not try to force the “beachy waves” look. Oftentimes, thin hair (especially if it's board-straight) will look even thinner and splotchy if slept on wet or if let to only air dry. Use the hair dryer to your advantage: Flip your head upside down while blowing drying to volumize.

3. Cut and Style respectively

Choose a cut that flatters thin hair. Try an angled bob, shaggy lob, or chunky layers to add dimension. For longer, thin hairstyles, try teasing at the roots for a fuller, more voluminous look. Also, take advantage of the “messy hair” look that is trending now. A messy bun atop your head or a braid that is pulled apart a bit creates a fuller look and the appearance of more hair! Also, utilize styling accessories such as a sock bun to give your bun a boost. You can also use bobby pins to create a puff on top, or a headband to push your hair slowly forward at the roots to create more body.

Using Keranique , safe styling habits, and the best cut and style for your hair type is just the right combo for not only managing your fine mane, but also for thriving with thin hair!
